VIDEO: Indoctrinated College Kids Boo Lt. Governor at Commencement

“Higher” education doesn’t mean what it used to, Save Jerseyans.

Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno’s speech at this year’s William Paterson University commencement ceremony was frequently interrupted by boos, catcalls and other assorted manifestations of rudeness from college students who evidently need to spend a few years in finishing school before entering the global job market:

By contrast, the Lt. Governor is a classy lady who took things in stride:

“Come on, get it out,” Guadagno said, according to the Daily Record, when the boos grew louder from many of the 2,300 graduates. “We’ve got all day.”

Guadagno stuck with her program, but was forced to stop and start her speech on numerous occasions. She paused when somebody yelled “Nobody cares,” while others were screaming “Go home” and “Get out.”

Guadagno later described the scene as a sign of the free-thinkers who have graduated from William Patterson. “I applaud them for protesting politely…because that’s the education you brought them,” she said to NorthJersey.com.

I disagree, Lt. Governor. This display proved, yet again, how little “free thinking” actually occurs on college campuses throughout the United States. With well over 70% of college professors self-identifying as “liberals,” there isn’t much opportunity for budding young minds to gain exposure to alternative viewpoints in the realm of public policy. Too often students are taught what to think as opposed to how to think. What’s more, they’re told that conservatives are hateful, evil bigots who aren’t worthy of their respect.

Tragically, four years and $100,000+ of indoctrination results in more than the base incivility evidenced by this story. It’s a gigantic problem for our economy and our democracy, too, as students leave school without the ability to think critically in their cubicles or voting booths. Or even at their own diploma ceremony?

So don’t blame the Christie Administration’s education reforms for your employment challenges, New Jersey students. A government grant can’t make or break a determined spirit. I recommend looking instead to yourselves, your teachers and your attitudes towards the larger world throughout what should be the most enlightening years of your lives. Consider whether you are challenging and dissecting your daily academic diet? Or are you indiscriminately digesting everything they’re serving you in class? Rest assured, your future success may hinge on this choice.

  1. Indoctrinated to what? A person that faked a position for her friend at the sheriffs office so he could double dip? Someone that's connected to the most disruptive, rude and arrogant governor this state has ever seen? Thank God that their numbers are tanking and he will be one and done.
