OPEN THREAD: What’s the Best Jersey Shore Town?

Governor Chris Christie enjoying a cold beer in Atlantic City on Thursday with U.S. Rep. Frank LoBiondo (R-Vineland) and other patrons.

It’s already begun, Save Jerseyans.

Tens of thousands of “shoobies,” “bennies” and diehard New Jersey beachaphiles from all over the Garden State are bound for the Jersey Shore points this afternoon.

Yes, the highways are jammed with broken heroes on a last chance power drive. Also plenty of Pennsylvanians who have NO clue how to merge! And obnoxious New Yorkers who think “yield” means “fight.”

Memorial Day Weekend obviously involves more than sitting in headache-inducing traffic. It’s a time to honor the brave men and women who have served, suffered and sometimes dies for our liberties. Among those liberties is the right to engage in free enterprise, so New Jersey businesses will be shuttering early today virturally everywhere except  in Monmouth, Ocean, Atlantic and Cape May Counties. Those folks, including our contributor Ed Sheppard, are heavily reliant on the unofficial start of the summer season despite the negative effect of strong economic headwinds; this year, they’re battling $3.50+ per gallon gas and a 9.1% unemployment rate.

But don’t let the Obama Economy keep you away from the BEST PLACE ON EARTH this Memorial Day Weekend, Save Jerseyans!

Tell us which beach front paradise is YOUR favorite Jersey Shore town! The sprawling golden sands of Wildwood? The action-packed casinos of A.C.? The quaint feel of historic Cape May? Or the wild party atmosphere of Seaside Heights? Everyone has a (strong) opinion. What’s yours?

  1. I rather like Spring Lake for a day trip, and I just returned from a couple of pre season nights in Cape May. So I'm sure you have me pegged as a wild party animal!!

  2. I'm with Gregg on this on Spring Lake is one of the most beautiful places in the state ,plus it 's property taxes are the lowest taxes as well Taxes on a million dollar home are $6,500. can't beat that for value !

  3. I grew up at the Manasquan NJ beach even though I lived in Camden County for 35 years and now live in Myrtle Beach. I come back here every year to stay at our cottage on the beach. A great place. Anyone interested, if you allow me to make a plug, interested in a one week rental, August 18 to 25' contact me.

  4. You completed some good points on savejersey.com . I did a search on the theme and found the majority of persons will have the same opinion with your phorum. Wish you luck!

  5. Thanks for the advice on credit repair on this excellent web-site. The things i would advice people will be to give up the particular mentality that they can buy right now and pay out later. As a society most of us tend to make this happen for many issues. This includes family vacations, furniture, along with items we'd like. However, you'll want to separate a person's wants out of the needs. When you're working to improve your credit score make some sacrifices. For example you may shop online to save money or you can visit second hand outlets instead of high priced department stores regarding clothing. Wonderful!
