Significant portions of the Republican base are still harboring ill-will against Governor Chris Christie for his embrace of President Obama following Hurricane Sandy.
Some say it’s very much justified. Other say it’s most definitely not.
What can’t be denied is that it’s very real, Save Jerseyans. And the GOP political establishment needs to take it seriously.
But upon returning to Trenton earlier today for the first full post-Election/Hurricane work day at the State House, the Governor doubled-down on his post-partisan approach to the crisis. He extolled bipartisan cooperation throughout the storm and urged lawmakers to avoid politicizing the crisis as they move forward:

We’ll see how long it lasts. The 2013 cycle is already underway and the first Democrat gubernatorial campaign announcement could come in a matter of weeks…
It doesn't change my opinion that Christie gave Obama a bump in the polls by over praising him. The rationing of gas, the organization…it all would have been great, but in true Christie form, he cancels out one good thing with two bad. Why?? He wants to run in 2016. The question then becomes, will he run as a republican or democrat?
Doherty 2013!
And now to add insult to injury, he wants to raise property tax to pay for the storm. I already buy my own flood insurance and pay for FEMA plus I pay for other schools that fail the children no matter how much money is poured into them. When will this lunacy stop? How about we take the money from the utility tax that was supposed to come back to the tax payers and didn't? Where is that money? Americans and New Jersians need to wake up and stand up.
