Scutari Backed Christie’s Nominee Before He Was Against Him

Trenton Democrats lie like it’s their profession, Save Jerseyans. If it was an Olympic sport, they’d win the gold every year. They’re that good. Or bad. Brazen is probably a better descriptor.

State Sen. Nicholas Scutari’s Judiciary Committee is a case study unto itself. The Democrat Chairman decries perceived imbalances prospectively engendered by Governor Chris Christie’s Supreme Court nominees, only to turn around and inject hyper-partisanship into the confirmation process by shirking his constitutional duties and allowing hearings to devolve into political circuses.

It’s gross.

A new round of nominees allows for fresh examples of bad faith behavior under the Dome. The aggressive Christie Administration communications apparatus has zeroed in on two particularly (and wildly) disconnected Scutari statements, both uttered by the Democrat Judiciary Chairman exactly one (1) year apart:

12/12/12: Senator Nicholas Scutari: “All I got is the names of some people who I’m vaguely familiar with, and we’ll start from there …” (Salvador Rizzo, “Democrats: Approving latest Supreme Court nominees by mid-January will be ‘impossible,’” Star-Ledger, 12/12/12)

12/12/11: Senator Nicholas Scutari: “Mr. Hanna, I’m looking at your credentials and they’re obviously very impressive with regard to your legal experience …” (Senate Judiciary Committee Hearing, 12/12/11)

For those who haven’t been following along, Scutari is referring to Board of Public Utilities President Robert Hanna, one of two new Supreme Court nominees announced earlier this week

The BPU isn’t exactly an obscure position in the state governmental flow chart, folks. Scutari should know who Hanna is… after all, he praised Hanna just one year ago before his own committee. Now he’s only “vaguely familiar” with the BPU chieftain?

Absolutely brazen...
