Disgraced Coutinho’s Edited Bill Heads to Senate

The New Jersey State HouseLife under the Trenton Dome is full of little ironies, Save Jerseyans.

Try this one on for size: the Senate Jersey State Senate is slated to take up proposed changes to “The New Jersey Economic Opportunity Act” (deep breath) “of 2013” later today, Save Jerseyans. The Democrat-dominated General Assembly adopted Governor Chris Christie’s proposed changes on Monday.

The vote wasn’t completely unanimous. One Democrat and five GOP assemblymen, including Asm. Jay Webber, voiced opposition to the legislation…

“This act is really just corporate welfare aimed at a select few,” Webber told NorthJersey.com. “What we need is broad-based tax relief aimed at everybody, not just those who can afford to hire lobbyists.”

The Harvard and Johns Hopkins-educated Morris Plains attorney certainly has an independent streak. He voted against the Administration-backed state budget in June alongside fellow Morris County legislator Anthony Bucco.

The ironic part: this “corporate welfare” bill’s prime sponsor was none other than Assemblyman Al Coutinho (D-Essex) who resigned from the General Assembly on Wednesday after news of an alleged corruption investigation broke and who is now reportedly working on a plea deal with the AG. Insert punchline here.

It’s almost as if clowns like Coutinho are TRYING to help our old friend Bob Ingle cash in with another New York Times bestseller…
