We’re watching a tragic scene unfold at the D.C. Navy Yard this morning, Save Jerseyans, where gunmen (plural?) have reportedly killed at least 4 people and injured 8 others. Two of the victims may be police officers.
News reports also suggest that one shooter is down. It’s still not 100% clear whether there were other shooters on site but one newspaper is broadcasting the number three. Thousands of workers were told to “shelter in place” when the shootings began…
More on that later. For now, your prayers are undoubtedly needed as local and federal authorities try to resolve this situation without any additional injuries or loss of life.
Since we’re going to end up talking about this anyway… at least initially, police believe the shooter(s) may be armed with AR-15 “assault” rifles. The AR-15 utilizes magazines holding anywhere from 10 to 30 rounds; magazines utilizing more than 10 rounds are illegal in the District of Columbia (as we all learned from the controversy around David Gregory’s December 2012 on-air demonstration).
