The man who’s all-too-familiar with the ramifications of a federal government shutdown wasn’t very worried about it on Monday evening as the clock ticked down:

Like I told you: Shutdowns are generally no cause for concern.
And for all the talk of how disastrous the 1995 shutdown was for Republicans, at the end of the day, the Democrat Party gained a net of only two House seats in 1996 and lost two senate seats! Republicans continued to control the House of Representatives for another decade. It’s not spin… just history.
