Welcome to Festivus 2013, Save Jerseyans, the fictional Seinfeld holiday-turned-counter-cultural sensation that folks across the country tired of normative seasonal pressures celebrate every December 23rd. It’s Festivus for the rest of us as the saying goes.
Even the U.S. Senate is getting in on the act. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) took a humorous approach to commemorating the day, using his twitter page to share grievances with Washington, D.C. and the federal government.
Cory Booker (D-Twitter) couldn’t resist challenging Paul to the most dramatic of all Festivus traditions:
The ideological odd couple have actually already teamed up on a few issues of mutual concern including reforming drug sentencing procedures.
Here’s my top Festvius grievance, Save Jerseyans: my junior U.S. Senator spends more time on Twitter than trying to make my life less expensive. Sen. Booker is welcome to call me if he’d like to hear more!
