WATCH: Ocean County NJ-03 Debate

Republican candidate Tom MacArthur and Democrat Aimee Belgard, and Democratic-Republican Party of New Jersey candidate Fred Lavergne will face off in the next NJ-03 debate of 2014 tonight at Ocean County College in Toms River, Save Jerseyans.

Belgard badly needs a win after a rough 2nd debate and souring polls.

Radio station WOBM 1160 & 1310 AM is hosting the event which begins at 7 p.m. on Friday night. You can also watch below the fold via a YouTube livestream (click here if it’s not working) and tweet questions to @debateOCC:

  1. So far Frederick John LaVergne is the only candidates with fresh ideas. Tom is more interested in attacking than ideas. Amy is focused on building up the base. Fred wants to make changes and has ideas that are outside the mainstream. These are benefits for a Congress that isn’t doing anything much of anything.

  4. You’re right, Maxster…I’m overweight. You, sir, are a keen observer of the obvious. I hope you are more informed when it comes time to cast a ballot. The video doesn’t start with US until 1:22, for whatever reason…maybe they don’t really want anyone to see it. Watch it through – you’ll understand why.

  5. Sadly LaVergne showed himself to be EXACTLY why people wont vote for him. He is a bully and he actually his snarky little barbs were funny but instead it showed him to be the loser he is. He only cares about his agenda and what he wants. His disgusting comments questioning Tom accusing him of NOT having those organizations he has because “Freddie cant find them” is proof of his instability. Like a few have said, he is an ass clown and not worth the votes

Tom came in a distant third in this debate….His “Jobs Plan”, and the fibs about his job creation, his lack of any substantial role in the bond rating in Randolph, and the fact that, while offended at being stood up for fibbing about his charitable works…(note – he said he was “offended”, but never asked me to “disavow” (his words) the statement or called me a liar, offered no proof, and his tax returns substantiate my claims)…his SUPPORT for “Drill, baby, Drill” in the Alaskan Wildlife Refuge, and the geography lesson he received from me over his various proposals, showed him to be a weak choice.

    Spending millions to buy a seat that belongs to the people, but is being sold by Gilmore, is cause enough to turn your back on this guy.

    This is just resume building for his next career as an insurance company lobbyist.

    Matt…not one real story AFTER the debate? Why? Because your guy lost, and lost badly.

Do not think for one moment that people think your remarks about that and Tom;s loss of his Daughter is just BS to you. But it is not lost on the many who think you are an incredible angry, stupid fat piece of crap. Whatnseat will you run for next when you get slammed in the election??? Must suck to not get any formal endorsements from papers either lolol

  9. The “selling” or “buying” a seat attack line is hilarious. Had Tom relied on traditional sources of donations to win this seat – pacs, corporations, fat cats, etc. – critics would’ve claimed he’s “bought and sold.” But he has by-and-large self-financed this race. Somehow that makes this worse in your opinion? Give me a break! American politics would be a cleaner, more productive exercise if every district had a Tom MacArthur who wasn’t answerable to anyone other than his God, family and constituents. You can’t have it both ways.

  10. Thank You Matt for banning Fred from using this board as a campaign site. It is beyond wacko he is linking this page to his site because he is HOPELESSLY obsessed with Tom’s charitable organizations and that he has proudly given away over 1600 wheelchairs to those who need it. Fortunately it has backfired on Freddie because it is easy to copy his obsessions to people who are involved with such organizations who read for themselves what a truly unstable person he is. Why is he so obsessed with this? That is ALL he can talk about and yet he thinks that somehow people will buy his brand of wacko but it is not helping him at all.

    If a candidate can only obsess on ONE topic and that is the personal contributions of his opponent that shows why this person should NEVER be allowed to hold any seat anywhere.

  11. Still no sign of the wheelchairs. Notice, he sued Lonegan, he sued Belgard – but he was “offended” when called out.

    LaVergne was right.
