Bill Hughes, Jr. is turning out to be a bigger flop than The Adventures of Pluto Nash, Save Jerseyans!
A new Stockton poll released Tuesday found Frank LoBiondo leading the Democratic challenger by a whopping 18-points, 53% to 34%, in New Jersey’s 2nd Congressional District among 600 surveyed likely voters.
“It appears that many of those who were undecided in the earlier poll are breaking for Frank LoBiondo,” said Sharon Schulman, Chief Executive Officer of External Affairs and Institutional Research.
A recent Monmouth poll put Lobo’s lead at 21-points.
A little history: Lobiondo won his seat back in 1994 riding the Republican Revolution wave and besting Louis N. Magazzu with 30-point landslide (he had lost to Hughes’s father by 15-points in ’92 before the Democrat’s retirement). All the same, an 18-point victory would represent one of Lobo’s “closest” wins (he won by “only” 20-points in ’08 and 17-points in ’12, the Obama years). It’s a testament to Hughes’s built-in name recognition AND demographic changes in the district itself.
