He’s the most popular living politician in New Jersey and appropriately so, Save Jerseyans, given his fiscally conservative leadership record during Ronald Reagan’s booming 1980s.
It’s not too surprising then that his 80th birthday festivities quickly turned into a multi-event affair hosted by a diverse array of admirers.
On Saturday, Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno joined the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center to honor Governor Thomas Kean.
The “Spring Into Music” Gala concert and reception featured Governor Kean and his family as guests of honor.
The LG filled in for Governor Christie who had no public schedule Saturday after a highly-publicized swing through New Hampshire; earlier this month, Kean Sr. took his criticism of his former mentee to a new level, suggesting, paraphrasing, that Christie should consider a late-night comedy show in lieu of a presidential bid.
“Happy birthday to Governor Kean, whose support for the arts, both during his time as Governor and every year since, ensured that we can enjoy concerts like this here at the Performing Arts Center and helped New Jersey become a national leader in the arts,” said Lt. Governor Guadagno, herself a gubernatorial hopeful.
