In a race that’s gotten exceedingly (and some would say excessively) personal at times, Save Jerseyans, down the home stretch of the LD24 Assembly primary campaign, the establishment-backed GOP slate is doing everything it can to push a simple, familiar theme:
We’re the real conservatives and our opponent isn’t.
Incumbent Assemblyman Parker Space and Sussex County Freeholder Gail Phoebus got a boost in this regard over the weekend when mailers (right) sent out by the National Rifle Association (NRA) PAC began to hit mailboxes throughout the sprawling, largely rural Northwester New Jersey district.
The pair has also been endorsed by the New Jersey Business and Industry Association (NJBIA)’s PAC, the New Jersey Outdoor Alliance and New Jersey Right to Life State PAC.
LD24, a deep-red battleground which includes one Morris municipality (Mt. Olive), is contested this cycle by former Green Mayor Marie Bilik and 23-year old Branchville resident Nathan Orr who are running separately in an attempt to overcome the party-backed team comprised of Space and Phoebus, the latter of whom is the endorsed successor to retiring Assemblywoman Alison Littell McHose.
