Marco Rubio, surging in the latest post-Fox News debate polling, has out-raised Chris Christie thus far for the 2016 cycle, Save Jerseyans.

The Governor isn’t taking it lying down.

As is now its custom, the Governor’s presidential campaign will hold its own competing ‘Chris Christie for President’ fundraising reception a short 30-minute drive away in Mantoloking on Thursday night to counter the Colts Neck fundraiser for Rubio hosted by businessman Juan Gutierrez and his wife, Marta.

The GOP contenders haven’t warred openly to date. In fact, back in early July, they were the only candidates to be invited to Mitt Romney’s New Hampshire home for an exclusive July 4th weekend slumber party. Their strategies are also wildly different. Stagnating near the bottom-middle of the pack, Christie is launching attacks aimed at Jeb Bush, hoping to cut into the floundering money-leader’s establishment backing. Rubio, by contrast, has kept a low profile while laying the groundwork for victory in the first-in-the-south South Carolina primary.
