NJEA Gets Behind DeCroce, Cesaro in LD26 GOP Primary

In case you missed it, Save Jerseyans, the state’s most notorious public sector union has weighed in on what’s arguably this spring’s most competitive GOP primary.

At the end of last week, the New Jersey Education Association endorsed Asw. Betty Lou DeCroce (R) and Freeholder John Cesaro (R) of Morris County in this spring’s LD26 Republican primary battle; the other two contestants in the four-way fight are Asm. Jay Webber (R) and Freeholder Hank Lyon, also of Morris County.

NJEA-affiliated political expenditures played a large factor in unseating Republican candidates and solidifying the New Jersey Democrat Party’s strong legislative majority in recent cycles.

“NJEA’s endorsements are well aligned with NJEA’s organizational goals,” NJEA Government Relations Director Ginger Gold Schnitzer said of this year’s announcement.

The NJEA also endorsed Sen. Samuel Thompson (R), Asm. Ronald Dancer (R), and Asm. Robert Clifton (R) in Legislative District 12 where challenger Art Haney and his ticket are running against the incumbent slate; on the Democrat side of the aisle, Asm. Nicholas Chiaravalloti (D) and Kristen Zadroga-Hart (D) in Legislative District 31.
