TRENTON, N.J. — The “gradual” route to a $15 minimum wage (or higher) failed in Seattle, Washington.
Today, Politico is reporting that N.J. Democrat Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin will introduce a bill that repeats the Seattle mistake with a gradually-increasing minimum wage:
- $8.85 on January 1, 2019
- $9.50 on July 1, 2019
- $11.00 on January 1, 2020
Increases will continue annually thereafter until New Jersey’s minimum wage reaches $15 on January 1, 2024.
