Van Drew: ‘South Jersey has done its part to save America’

New Jersey Republicans didn’t get the red wave they wanted on Tuesday, but things were mostly positive in South Jersey as noted by one of the region’s biggest winners: Congressman Jeff Van Drew.

“South Jersey has done it’s part tonight to save the America we know and love by delivering historic Republican victories up and down the ballot,” said Van Drew (R, NJ-02). “Now the real work begins when it comes to undoing the damage Biden and this Democrat majority have done to our country over the last two years. When Republicans take control of the House of Representatives come January we can’t be weak kneed. We need to be strong, we need to be tough, we need to hold this Administration accountable and deliver for the American people where the Democrats have failed.”

Van Drew won a landslide victory with over 61% of the vote against Democrat challenger Tim Alexander. Republicans also won big in most counties inside of his sprawling district including Cumberland where the GOP took control for the first time in decades.

One notable disappointment was Gloucester where Republicans came up short in a bid to take control of county government thanks in large part to a robust Democrat vote-by-mail investment.

The next test of Van Drew’s prowess as a party leader comes next year when Republicans will defend recently-recaptured South Jersey legislative seats and attempt to advance into LD4.
