The GOP’s newest state senator has joined the upper chamber.
A former NJGOP chairman and incumbent Warren Republican leader, Steinhardt was sworn into the State Senate on Monday afternoon after being selected by LD23 committee members to replace Mike Doherty who vacated the seat to assume county office.
A power player in state Republican circles, the attorney recently served as quarterback for the party’s congressional redistricting commissioners. He also briefly ran for governor in 2021 before aborting his candidacy; there’s speculation that Steinhardt could use his new office to explore a rebooted run in 2025...
