LISTEN: Sawyer calls 1210 WPHT’s morning show to discuss LD3 debate flap

One of the big stories in New Jersey politics this week:

Our very own Matt Rooney is hosting an LD3 GOP Primary debate on 1210 WPHT (Sunday April 30th at 8:30 p.m.), but only one of the two candidates (Beth Sawyer) is participating. Senator Ed “The Trucker” Durr declined. LD3 is probably lean Republican in 2023, but Democrats are running a former Assemblyman to reclaim Steve Sweeney’s seat alongside a popular Gloucester County commissioner and appear poised to invest big money into the race.

Sawyer called into 1210 WPHT’s morning program – Kayal & Company – on Thursday morning to pitch her own campaign and weigh in on a debate situation that managed to divide even the morning show crew…

Listen below:

When asked by host Nick Kayal about the differences between herself and her ex-running mate, Sawyer alleged that Durr “doesn’t has his thumb on the pulse of what’s going on in her district.” Sawyer proceed to cite hyper-local issues, notably ongoing concerns with Salem County’s 911 system.

Matt is the host of ‘The Matt Rooney Show’ on Sunday evenings from 7-10 PM EST on 1210 WPHT.

In addition to the radio station itself, the Audacy app, and here at SaveJersey.com, the April 30th debate can be viewed live at 1210’s new YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@1210WPHT
