There are three fiercely-competitive NJGOP State Senate primaries this June, and the National Rifle Association (NRA) Political Victory Fund is making formal campaign endorsements in all three races.
In LD3 (Salem/Gloucester/Cumberland), where Ed “The Trucker” Durr is facing off with ex-running mate Beth Sawyer, the NRA is backing Durr; the first time incumbent who defeated Steve Sweeney in 2021 received an A+ rating from the national organization.
In neighboring LD4 (Gloucester/Camden/Atlantic), former Washington Township Councilman Chris DelBorrello received an “AQ” rating (the highest you can recieve without having a voting record) and the endorsement over Gloucester Commissioner Nick DeSilivio (who also received an “AQ” rating).
Meanwhile, up in North Jersey, incumbent Joe Pennacchio won the LD26 endorsement and an A+ rating over Morris Commissioner Tom Mastrangelo (who pulled down an AQ rating).
The Garden State features some of the strictest gun control laws in the country; Phil Murphy’s general transgressions against the Bill of Rights during Covid-19 and the ongoing debate over the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent Bruen decision have arguably increased the prominence of 2A issues for prospective Republican primary voters.
