The LD4 Democrat slate led by Paul Moriarty won the state’s top battleground on Tuesday evening, a Democrat “hold” rather than a gain but nevertheless a major disappointment for South Jersey Republicans who had hoped to continue pushing the Camden-based Democrat machine’s boundaries further to the west.

Democrats also swept the county commissioner and surrogate races in Gloucester County, a major victory for ex-Senate President Steve Sweeney who continues to act as the boss of the county party even after his 2021 legislative defeat.
