Planned Parenthood opposes N.J. Democrat bill to impose social media age restrictions

It’s not every day that Planned Parenthood whips against a bill sponsored by New Jersey Democrats.

Plenty of Americans are increasingly concerned by the side effects of social media use by minors. Cyberbullying, depression, and sex trafficking are among the growing mountain of negative impacts.

A5750/S4215, which was reported out of Assembly Health Committee shortly before Christmas, “[r]equires age verification and parent or guardian consent for minor’s use of social media platform” and “prohibits certain messaging between adults and minors on social media platform.”

Planned Parenthood Action Fund of New Jersey is advertising online and urging users to “[t]ake 30 seconds to ensure young people have access to the information they need and deserve!”

“PPAFNJ is committed to ensuring all young people receive the information and resources they need to lead healthy and fulfilling lives,” a PP splash page explains. “But a bill currently being considered by the NJ State Legislature could cut off entire communities of young people in New Jersey from access to the information they need to lead healthy lives.”

So I’ll translate:

Planned Parenthood doesn’t want to empower parents and protect kids because they want children to be able to find… Planned Parenthood. And get abortions.

Ghoulish? Hell yeah. Let’s see if Trenton moves ahead with the legislation notwithstanding Planned Parenthood’s ordinarily potent advocacy.
