POLL: Many young Americans no longer see “climate change” as a serious problem

The Murphy Administration infamously forced climate change themes into state curriculum standards, but there’s new evidence that the Left’s nationwide push to indoctrinate kids and turn them into green warriors isn’t working.

This week, Monmouth University released new polling results showing dramatic downward shifts in the percentage of Americans – including younger Americans – who are no longer buying the climate change narrative. That’s trouble for Joe Biden at a time when he’s running on a plan to reduce U.S. greenhouse gas emissions to 50% below 2005 levels by 2030.

“The percentage of Americans between the ages of 18 and 34 who see climate change as a very serious problem has fallen by 17 points in the past three years (50%, down from 67% in 2021), compared with smaller declines among those who are 35 to 54 years old (44%, down from 48%) and those age 55 and older (44%, down from 54%),” Monmouth University Polling Institute reported. “Support for government action to reduce climate change activities stands at 62% among those age 18 to 34, which is similar to current support levels among older Americans (55% age 35 to 54 and 60% age 55 and older). However, support among younger adults has dropped significantly from prior polls (80% in 2021, 82% in 2018, and 75% in 2015), while it has remained fairly stable among Americans age 35 and older during the past decade.”

Overall, less than than half (46%) of all of those polled view climate change as a very serious issue, down from 54% in 2018 and 56% in 2021.

“Support for climate action remains relatively high in absolute terms, but it has softened due to a drop in the sense of urgency on this issue, particularly among younger adults,” said Patrick Murray, director of the institute.

Monmouth’s phone survey conducted between April 18th and 22nd included 808 adults; the margin of error is +/- 4.1 percentage points.
