TRENTON, N.J. — Yes, Phil Murphy just signed six new gun control measures into law, further soldifying the Garden State as one of America’s strictest gun control jurisdictions.
None of those laws stopped a mass shooting this weekend at a Trenton, New Jersey arts festival.
How did the Democrat governor respond?
By citing scripture and, apparently, blaming Washington, D.C.
During a morning after visit to the Galilee Baptist Church in Trenton, Murohy told the congregation that he “and many others around this state are committed to ending this scourge of gun violence.”
“As good as job as we do in Trenton and New Jersey we need Congress to act as a national matter,” Murphy added and, quoting 2 Timothy (Chapter 1, Verse 7) declared, “God did not give us the spirit of fear but of love, and of power, and of a sound mind.”
Murphy did not address which specific new gun control laws, if any, his Administration or any other governing body could champion which could’ve actually averted the tragedy.
We awoke to news of a mass shooting right here in Trenton.
Art All Night is a time when we all come together. We cannot let gun violence tear us apart.
These are not inappropriate times to talk about gun policy. These are the most important times to talk about gun policy. pic.twitter.com/EJtM7iLOPN
