“The Conservative, Suburban Mayor”

By Matt Rooney The Save Jersey Blog

Suburban SidewalkSeeking to capitalize on tangible signs of Cory Booker’s troubled mayoral tenure, the Lonegan for U.S. Senate campaign is out this morning with a new radio spot that’s sure to raise at least a few eyebrows.

You can click here to listen for yourselves, Save Jerseyans:

Steve Lonegan (R-Bogota) hits Cory Booker (D-Twitter) over his head on the issues you’d expect: higher taxes, failing schools, a violent crime wave, rampant higher-than-average unemployment and the Obama “rubber stamp” argument (with a special Syria mention to boot). The former Bogota mayor warns listeners that “Newark is falling apart” and appeals to voters to not “let Cory Booker help Obama do to America what Booker’s already done to Newark.”

Lonegan’s narrator then touts the former AFP-NJ chieftain as the “conservative, suburban mayor” alternative to Booker. All that’s missing is a Harrington Park reference!

The full radio ad runs one minute in length. For those of you who are tuning in for the first time, Mayor Lonegan’s still facing polling problems and has yet to launch a network TV spot. We’ll see if the upsetting events in Newark move the needle at all…
