Knock-Knock: Petition Sprint Underway Around New Jersey with Only 48 Hours Until Deadline

Petitions for New Jersey’s June 7th primary are due by Monday, April 11th at 4PM, Save Jerseyans.

That means you may see a disheveled individual or group of individuals on your porch between now or then, toting armfuls of petition clipboards and Google maps of your home legislative district. You can learn more about this sometimes frantic process at the New Jersey Division of Elections website. Petition gathering is extra-frantic this time around since the decennial apportionment process only wrapped up one week ago. Translation: many of these candidates had no idea who they would be running to represent until last Sunday!

So please don’t be short or gruff with your neighborhood petition-gatherer. They’re not trying to interrupt the baseball game or your weekend painting project; they’re simply filing a vital democratic function with not a lot of time to get it done.

Want to help? Visit the NJGOP website, go to the “County” tab and find the info for your local Republican organization. I’m 100% certain that they’d welcome an extra hand (or 100) this weekend.
