UPDATE: Greenwald Canceled School Funding Town Hall Back On

Since this ridiculous display of political strong-arming is taking place in my own back yard, I have taken a particular interest in the circus surrounding the Fair School Funding Town Hall that was supposed to take place in Camden County back in October. If you recall (and if not you can go back and read this post) Senator Mike Doherty had worked with local elected officials and school administrators to bring his increasingly popular Fair School Funding presentation to Voorhees Township. The event had been planned months in advance, but apparently no one told Assemblyman Lou Greenwald, Voorhees resident, until it was only about one week away.

Allegedly, Greenwald made some calls to the school administrators and ordered the event canceled because it was too close to an election. This raise a bit of a firestorm among local committee members in the town, who seemed more disgusted at the legislator’s attempt to hide from an issue so important to New Jersey’s parents, students, and taxpayers just because an election was a few weeks away.

Well now Save Jersey has learned that the event is back on, and rescheduled for December 13th at 7:00PM in the Voorhees Middle School theater, which is a rather large venue. Save Jersey will be covering the event, as we have covered others around the state, and would hope that Assemblyman Greenwald will make an appearance and speak to us about his position on Doherty’s Fair School Funding Act, which has been gaining significant steam in the legislature, picking up a sponsorship by Senator Kevin O’Toole earlier this week.

Speaking of Senator Doherty, if you haven’t voted in our Save Jersey poll on the GOP Senate nomination, head over and cast your vote now.
