“Pope Pascrell” Hopes to Score Points Against Rothman by Condemning Christie

The liberal establishment is geared up and ready to make Governor Chris Christie pay for his “idiot” remark at last week’s Burlco town hall meeting.

First in line this weekend was North Jersey Congressman Bill Pascrell (D); his campaign released the following statement on Saturday:

The Governor crossed the line of decency on his latest tirade on a New Jersey taxpayer. Rather than agreeing to disagree, it seems that Governor Christie takes any opposition or criticism as a personal affront. I’ve hosted numerous town halls with opponents of my ideas or legislation in attendance. There’s nothing wrong with candid displays of disagreement. But you need to know when to move on.”

Ironically, Rep. Pascrell is a notoriously cranky seasoned citizen who has never shied away from rendering bombastic judgments upon political opponents. Like back in August 2008, when he declared that President G.W. Bush, VP Cheney and Karl Rove were all going to Hell

We might have missed the last eight years because folks did not tell us the truth. Dante’s Inferno laid out very specifically the very levels receding into hell. And the hottest place is reserved for those who distort the truth, who manipulate our minds, or who attempt to do it, anyway. So I don’t think Bush and Cheney will be at the hottest point in the inferno, but I sure as hell know that Karl Rove will be.”

I don’t recall ever seeing an apology from Rep. Pascrell after THAT particular outburst. I suspect it’s because self-annointed Pope Pascrell believes himself to be infallible when passing judgment on Republican politicians? God only knows.

But hey, maybe Rep. Pascrell will ask Him for us?

Of course, theology has very little to do with Rep. Pascrell’s press release. His campaign was probably hoping to garner liberal political support by attacking Christie, a liberal archenemy. Rep. Pascrell is currently locked in a fierce primary struggle with redistricted Rep. Steve Rothman (D). At the moment, most experts seem to think Pascrell is fairing poorly.

And you know what they say, Save Jerseyans: “Judge not that ye be not judged.” (Matthew 7:1)

Pope Pascrell may want to brush up on that verse before June!
