HuffPo Unfairly Slams Bucco as a Birther

So earlier today you read about an official court challenge in Mercer County to President Obama’s ballot eligibility in New Jersey. I am going to go out on a limb and say that effort will not be successful. There has been some other news regarding the “birther movement” in New Jersey.

Yesterday the Huffington Post attempted to politely smear Assemblyman Anthony Bucco, and by relation Governor Christie, for being present at an event put on by the Morris County GOP with Jerome Corsi as the guest speaker. For those of you not aware, Corsi wrote a book about Obama and his missing birth certificate that came out around the same time that President Obama released his Hawaii birth certificate. Corsi to this day claims that the certificate is a forgery, because clearly it would be hard for him to sell books if he argued otherwise.

HuffPo quoted Bucco,

I am not in a position to say what he put up on screen is demonstrative of evidence; that is for the court of law. This issue has not resolved itself. It won’t until some higher authority is involved

From this the Post, and then later Jon Wisniewski, essentially determined that the Assemblyman doubts President Obama’s citizenship and then is, by extension, crazy, whether they came right out and said it or not. This conclusion is one that is far from fair.

Assemblyman Bucco came to an event hosted by a county organization of which he is a part, listened to a presentation which I am sure (without having seen it) was faulty but presented in a way that would be considered one-sided but persuasive, and then said that judging the evidence in any official capacity was not his role. What is the issue here?

The fact that President Obama released his birth certificate speaks for itself. Every time a news organization questions a Republican lawmaker on the issue it is never for any reason other than embarrassment and spin. Bucco told them that he has not really reviewed Obama’s birth certificate and did not know whether it was an original or a copy. Somehow being smart enough to not form an official opinion based on nothing but conjecture gives a journalist creative license to create your opinion for you, so long as you are a Republican.

Bucco also said that he would support a law that required Presidential candidates to show proof that they are citizens before being allowed on the ballot in a state. HuffPo attempted to use this statement to add credence to their argument that Bucco is a birther. I, however, merely find the statement to be obvious. I mean be honest, don’t you find it kind of amazing that we do not certify people as citizens before allowing them to file for a Presidential ballot placement? With an illegal immigrant population as large as the United States has, and will continue to have, the possibility, while remote, is not impossible! It seems almost as obvious a rule as requiring a photo ID at the ballot box!

Oh wait….

  1. How dumb do you, Bucco, Corsi, or Trump think the leaders of the Republican Party are? Don't you think they checked all this out in 2008. The reason why Republican leaders don't say anything positive about Obama's birth record is simply because a large portion of the population wants to believe the President is a muslim Kenyan. And that translates to Republican votes in an election. Republicans will do anything to beat Obama in 2012. And promoting the "birther" issue is just one of those things.
