On Wednesday a Monmouth County Superior Court judge ruled that a provisional ballot excluded in that Neptune City’s November election was improperly excluded; consequently, a special runoff election between Democrat Michael Skudera and Republican Richard Pryor will take place on March 22nd.

Pryor, the incumbent, had appeared to lose by one vote. Then things got complicated. Skudera ultimately took office in January while the court battle continued. The see-saw vote count has been blamed on a vendor’s computer error.

Neptune City has a Republican mayor and council is 4-2 Republican; now it’s 4-1 Republican since Skudera will be forced to vacate his seat at least until the special election is decided.

Stay tuned…
