New Jersey’s Route 35: another expensive transportation nightmare!

Route 35It was only two weeks ago that we told you about the never-ending and uber expensive I-295/I-76/Route 42 Interchange project, Save Jerseyans. The Interchange is only one of the more obvious examples of institutional corruption in our state’s transportation system, corruption that is exponentially increasing the cost of living for all New Jerseyans and driving calls for a gas tax hike.

Now? We’ve got a gut-churning new investigative report from the Asbury Park Press.

The findings: the rehabilitation of Route 35 is $76 million over budget and a year behind schedule.

The current projected final cost: $341 million. That’s $27.3 million per mile for a 12.5-mile road.

You couldn’t make this stuff up if you tried. At one point, APP discovered, the state shelled out $24.5 million for three contractors to stop working.

These are the same people who want to take over Atlantic City…
