I’ve been saying that Loretta Weinberg was a hypocrite for years, Save Jerseyans.
She continues to prove me right. There’s almost something comfortable about her reliable self-contradiction!
Just yesterday, the Senate Majority Leader, a Democrat from Teaneck and former candidate for lieutenant governor, attacked Montville Committeewoman June Witty for sharing a meme which equated Democrats and Nazis.
“I am saddened and troubled that in 2018, any public official could equate being a Democrat with being a Nazi. Even in a society split by fierce partisanship, such a comparison is beyond the pale,” said Weinberg in a press release.
“I have lived in Germany twice – once as a private citizen and once as the United States ambassador, and I’m a modest student of Germany history. And I know what was being said about somebody else in the 1920s. And you could unfortunately drop in names from today into those observations from the 1920’s, and the moves that have been made early on only aide and abet that argument.”
That was Murphy in November 2016, just as his campaign for governor was kicking into high gear and liberal angst over Donald Trump’s then-imminent presidency was reaching a fever pitch.
I’ve done the requisite Googling and I can’t find a single instance of Weinberg taking Murphy to the proverbial woodshed over it.
Maybe, just maybe, Loretta Weinberg will one day admit that she’s a partisan hack? And all of her feigned outrage is motivated not by conviction but party affiliation?
Maybe. Not likely.
