New Burlington County Democrat majority votes to end ‘double-dipper’ ban

MOUNT HOLLY, N.J. — Burlington County voters who thought the first Democrat-controlled freeholder board in over four decades would make Mount Holly more transparent (and less corrupt) are getting a nasty surprise this morning.

On Wednesday, we learned that the new board had voted — in one of its first acts — to end a Republican-era county policy which prevented the county from hiring any individual who was already collected a public pension unless the individual consented to a freeze of his or her pension payments.
