Mexican cartels are among the most violent criminal organizations in human history. Murder, kidnapping, extortion, and bribery are just some of the notorious organizations’ activities. The drug war ravaging our neighbor to the south claimed 20,000 lives in 2014 alone.
Following the deaths of two Americans in Mexico at the hands of cartel thugs, U.S. Senator Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) was asked by Chuck Todd on ‘Meet The Press’ whether it was time to designate cartels as terrorist organizations (a GOP proposal is currently under discussion). The Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman’s response was… bewildering.
“We should save that for truly terrorist organizations in the world,” replied Menendez.
