Another Super PAC Pounds Vulnerable Andy Kim

MT. HOLLY, N.J. – A second national group in a month is targeting New Jersey’s Third Congressional District.

On Sunday, The Washington Examiner reported that a pro-Trump super PAC will spend $2 million over the next week cumulatively in 20 Democrat-held districts; the ads are designed to coincide with what is expected to be the first House Democrat vote on articles of impeachment.

America First Action’s nuts-and-bolts campaign includes television spots, digital advertisements, and even full-page newspaper ads. Andy Kim (D, NJ-03) is on the target list; a House freshman, Kim was also on the receiving end of an American Action Network (AAN) ad run back in November.

Rep. Kim announced his support for impeachment in late September. According to the Cook Political Report, Kim’s suburban Philadelphia seat – covering most of Burlington and Ocean counties – is considered a toss-up in 2020.

His likely 2020 Republican challenger is Katie Gibbs, a millennial ex-Burlington County freeholder. Gibbs formally accepted the Burlington GOP’s endorsement over the weekend.

“Andy Kim went to Washington promising to vote against Nancy Pelosi, and then broke that promise with his first vote.  Now he’s toeing the party line again with this baseless impeachment stunt instead of doing the bipartisan work he was elected to do,” said Burlco GOP Chairman Sean Earlen. “He’s a failure and needs to go.”

“By nominating a millennial woman with a proven record of results like Kate Gibbs, we can start bringing civility and sanity back to our nation’s capital,” added Earlen.  “As a South Jersey native, Kate is no DC insider. From being raised by a single mother and putting herself through college to cutting taxes every year she was in office and creating job opportunities for working families, Kate’s powerful story and broad-based appeal make her the only candidate running who can defeat Andy Kim in 2020.”
